Theme: The Art of Teaching Skill in a Team Environment

Opening Seminar: Player Video Analysis to Build Development Plan

Darryl opens the Workshop with an inside look into his video analysis process to  build an individual player development plan. This will be an inside look into the  way he assesses the video to determine the development priorities. Darryl will  profile an actual player and walk through the process. Will be a fascinating  direct insight into his process.

Ice Session 1: Individual Development Plan

This ice session will be a private lesson with with the target player digging right  into the development plan we established during the opening session Individual  Player Development Session base.

Both Darryl and the player will be mic’d so you’ll hear every interaction.  Ice Session 2 & 3: Group Skate Stitching Development Plans

This will be a group ice session and Darryl will stitch the individual development  plan of our target player into a group session. The fascinating part of this skate  will be that every player on the ice will have an individual plan of objectives that  will be stitched into the skate.

Seminar 2: Practice Theming and Drill Design

This seminar Darryl will walk participants through his process of drill design and  what considerations he factors in to build the drills into a practice theme.  Building an undercurrent of development with an emphasis on maximizing reps  and creating teaching moments to work the drill will be front and center.

Opening Reception Seminar: Player Relationship Building

There has been a lot said about building relationships with players, Darryl’s  focus in building a relationship is set squarely on building trust through

development achievement. The proving process in the development path and  inviting the player to fully commit is what will be detailed.

Ice Session 4: Practice Theming and Drill/Game Execution

In this ice session, Darryl will execute the practice plan created in Seminar 2

Seminar 4: Teaching Techniques

At this point in the Workshop the art of the coaches teaching skill comes to the  forefront and a deep dive into techniques that are effective in creating  performance change in players. Darryl will outline the techniques and how they  apply.

Ice Session 5: Teaching Techniques

Darryl will run a practice and integrate all the teaching techniques of Seminar 4  into the ice session.

Ice Session 6 & 7: Group Player Development Stitching

This ice session is the same group we have been working with each day in this  time slot and he will continue their development path while stitching each  players individual development needs into the group drills.

Seminar 5: Developing Inter-Player Leadership

This will be an awesome dive into how we as coaches and skill instructors can  influence the development of meaningful and practical leadership skill of all the  players on our ice. Inter-player leadership is a fascinating exploration and will  be a great discussion that should promote a lot of reflective thought in our  coaches.

Ice Session 8: Practice Habits and Developing Inter-Player Leadership

On this ice session Darryl will imprint practice habits and build inter-player  leadership in the group. This promises to be one of those ice sessions that will  be a massive paradigm shift in how coaches work a practice for more soft skill  development in their athletes.

Seminar 6: Pushing Reps to Instinct

For the final seminar Darryl will outline the process of how investing in reps with  a path to instinct actually occurs. This will essentially pull the athlete through  the phases of development and the stages of skill acquisition. Darryl believes  that skill acquisition is through the multiplicity of interactions with skill, and he  will show how this integrates with teaching games.

Ice Session 9 and 10: Pushing Reps to Instinct in Training

The final ice session will tie in all the aspects of the workshop together and the  best of the teaching process will be illustrated.

Seminar 7: Review Ice Session and Final Workshop Questions

The end of the Workshop we love coaches and skill coaches to be able to ask  questions they didn’t already have a chance to ask throughout the workshop.
